The National
Guild of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NGAOM)
is a professional medical society and an Office
for Professional Employees International Union,
affiliated with the AFL-CIO.
Organized
under the auspices of the Office for Professional
Employees International Union (OPEIU Guild #
62), The Guild provides a national focus to promote
health and well being through the utilization
of acupuncture and Oriental medicine, and to
advance, protect and preserve the profession.
Our
mission is to develop and maintain scientifically
based standards of practice for Oriental medicine
and to advocate for legislation thru the California
Labor Federation AFL-CIO and our National AFL-CIO
to assure our inclusion as primary providers
of Oriental medicine in the nation’s healthcare
system. Active membership in the Guild is open
to fully licensed practitioners of Oriental medicine
only. There are no corporate or institutional
memberships.
The
Guild is committed to educational
reform and endeavors to remove legislative and
educational barriers to competent Oriental medical
care.
Providing peer review oversight
of its members and educational programs that
are preparatory for fully integrated private
and institutional practice, the Guild represents
the voice of the profession and organized labor.
Professional organizations affiliated with the
OPEIU are a diverse group which includes physicians,
optometrists, pharmacists, chiropractors, appraisers,
podiatrists, clinical social workers, biofeedback
practitioners, acupuncturists, hypnotists and
helicopter pilots. Partnering with the OPEIU
benefits them in a number of ways. Affiliation
with the OPEIU has given these groups more legislative
clout and greater access to people who need their
services.
With Healthcare becoming an increasing
concern and national issue, any national healthcare
plan should be represented with a strong voice
for acupuncture services. The Guild and it affiliations
is the only organization poised to add this greater
bargaining message to the collective table.
Support the Guild today and become
a member of the only professional society for
Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
